Funding Overview

The Town has received $2,360,273.28 of ARPA funding. The first half of this was received in August of 2021 and the second in August of 2022. To date the Town has provided $75,000 to Mills River Fire and Rescue for premium pay and committed $70,000 to the Mills River Farm Market. This commitment to the Market is in the form of $17,500 per year for four years to support the Market's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) dollar matching program. On November 28, 2022 Town Council met and decided to allocate funding in two phases of approximately $1.1 million each. The first phase includes $500,000 for land conservation and preservation, $500,000 for property acquisition, and $100,000 for nonprofits. During the second phase of allocations, Town Council increased the amount for property acquisition to $1,500,000 to purchase 68+ acres adjacent to Mills River Park for future expansion and possible relocation of Town Hall.
