The Town of Mills River was founded in part for residents to have some control over the management of growth. In March of 2004, the Town took over Planning from Henderson County and has since adopted its own Zoning Ordinance. Through the Zoning Ordinance the Town regulates land use, density, setbacks, cell towers, subdivisions, landscaping, and signs. For more information on the Zoning Ordinance, contact Zoning Administrator Jaime Laughter Adrignola, or Zoning Enforcement Officer Pat Christie. An online version of the Code of Ordinances may be found at www.millsriver.org.

In May of 2005, the Town of Mills River began a street-lighting project by installing lights at the intersections of Highway 280 (Boylston Highway), Old Turnpike Road, and Schoolhouse Road; and at the intersection of Highway 191 South and Banner Farm Road. The Town will gradually add additional lights at key intersections and along more dangerous stretches of road. To obtain a street-light in your neighborhood, contact Town Hall. A list will be compiled, priorities set, and additional lighting added as funding allows. |
